The chief aim of any web technologist is to make a particular part of the web more awesome for people. Or, at least, it should be. People are the entire reason the web exists.
My contribution to this is in the arena of building highly scalable, highly available apps and infrastructure. I'm particularly great at taking legacy sites from sluggish under a few hundred visitors to blazing-fast at thousands of concurrent users, even with dynamic content.
More than that, though, I want to help the people I work with excel... and learn from them in the process. It's only by working together that we'll achieve our greatest success.
I've worked with some amazing people at every single one of my jobs. And the best ones? They were always willing to lend a hand or a sympathetic ear. I want to be one of those people.
It's not enough to be a great engineer. You have to be a great person too.
Specialties: AWS infrastructure planning and implementation, PHP (Laravel) and Ruby (Rails) back-end development, the devops philosophy, teaching (and learning from) others, and listening.
